Educadora canadiense, activista de Derechos Humanos y crítica del islam. Cuando tenía veinte años, fue obligada a casarse con un miembro de Al Qaeda, con quien tuvo una hija. Más tarde escapó del matrimonio para proteger a su hija de la amenaza de la mutilación genital femenina. Critica tanto al islam como a la izquierda –a la que acusa de legitimar al islam radical– y se opone fuertemente al uso del velo (hiyab). Fundó Free Hearts, Free Minds, que brinda asesoramiento a las personas que abandonan el islam, centrándose especialmente en brindar servicios a mujeres de Arabia Saudí y personas LGBT del mundo musulmán. Trabaja con la Fundación Ayaan Hirsi Ali y es miembro de la Junta Directiva de Humanist Global Charity y de Atheists for Liberty.
