More than 65 years have passed since the end of World War II. Yet the sacrifices and suffering of the peoples during the war were so great, and the significance of the victory of the Soviet Union in a deadly battle with the shock forces of Germany and its allies is so grandiose, that the events connected with the war still arouse unremitting interest. And, above all, questions arise as to who was responsible for this war, could it not have been prevented? Virtually all sources on the history of World War II include the term "attack of Nazi Germany and its satellites on the USSR. But who these "satellites" were usually not given enough attention. The main "actors" in the war are the Russians and Germans, and all others appear as pale shadows. However, without the assistance of a number of medium-sized and small countries in Europe, Hitler's aggression would not have had such a large scale, the campaigns of 1941-1942 would not have been so successful for Hitler and so dangerous for the Soviet Union.
