Alzheimer’s disease is a chronic neurodegenerative disease. Usually it begins slowly, but worsens with the passage of time. In most of the cases, it is the cause of dementia, i.e., a decrease in the ability to think and remember. There is no known cure for Alzheimer’s disease. It is managed with pharmaceutical and psychosocial therapies. Some medications used to treat the cognitive issues linked with the disease are acetylhocholinesterase inhibitors and mematine. Psychological interventions encompass emotion-, behavior-, cognition-, and stimulation- oriented approaches. These are used along with pharmaceutical treatment.
