With her husband's blessing, she and her best friend (the narrator, Ness) fly to St. Augustine, FL for her radiation and chemotherapy treatment. By coincidence or Divine Intervention, her hospital roommate turns out to be the Aunt her mother hasn't allowed her to speak to for over 20 years! They recover together and remember, renew and recover their lost relationship. When her treatment is over, Kirstin sends Ness and her husband on a well-deserved Anniversary weekend vacation. Kirstin sets out alone on the 45-minute drive from St. Augustine to Jacksonville, to pick up a college friend to share the ride home with her, but she never makes it! What happens next leaves everyone in shock and dismay, and causes her already unbalanced Mother to go over the edge. Somehow, Mother finds out the despised Aunt had been in contact with Kirstin, and goes after her and Kirstin's friend, Ness with a vengeance! What happens next leaves Ness in a coma, and triggers a near-death experience for her in Heaven. She is reunited with Kirstin and her own parents, but no one will tell her what happened to her, to The Aunt, or to Kirstin's Mother! When she finally comes out of the coma, she knows she has to find someone and give them an important message from Christ. Slowly, she begins to put the puzzle pieces together to find out if she really was in Heaven or if it was all a dream. But her husband has an urgent message for her that changes everything!
