The central characters migrate from New England to a refuge in the Pacific Northwest. The story depicts what may well happen to America over the next few years and offers a grim view of a possible devastating future. Multiple characters bring their individual wisdom and agree to collaborate on solutions to overcome the pending adversity. All predictions involve degrees of probability as to whether or not they will happen. By alerting people to possible outcomes, there is potential to avoid the most undesirable of these destines. A prophecy is a forewarning, and as such, can be altered by a process of awakening.
