Who knew being President would involve being pursued by a gang of international terrorists, intent on kidnap and mayhem? Then there was the fat guard and the one eyed dog! There were many challenges to be confronted and overcome from Halfway to Paris, thankfully not all of them life threatening. Halfway, is a mere thousand kilometres from Paris, but the chic capital of France, with its wide boulevards and stylish architecture could be on a different planet from my childhood home in a small dark hamlet dominated by mountains of coal slag. Fortunately, I felt very much at home in Paris and just as comfortable meeting and greeting Princes, Presidents and Prime Ministers.
