November 1977. Cuba has assembled a powerful skydiving team to compete at the Pan American Parachute Games in Mexico. Their trainer, a seasoned coach from the Soviet Union, believes the Cubans can defeat the US Army Team. Excitement in top government circles grows as the date of the event nears. It will be the first time ever for Cuba to score a victory against the US military in a competitive arena. Just days before the team's departure, a crisis erupts. The Cuban intelligence services discover that one of the competitors intends to defect while in Mexico. The skydiver's call sign is Lince, the Spanish word for Lynx. To the Cuban regime, a victory against the US Golden Knights is a most tantalizing prospective. But will that alone justify taking the risk that one of the skydivers might escape in Mexico? Perhaps the State Security Directorate still has time to set-up a sting. Unwilling to give up, Castro orders his top intelligence operatives into action.
